Can I Drive My Subaru of New Jersey’s Beaches?

When you’re spending the day down the shore and see lifeguards and other beach employees cruising along the coast in pickup trucks or UTVs, you might start to wonder whether or not you could do the same thing in your Subaru.

While the team at our New Jersey Subaru dealer is confident that you can drive on sand with the proper preparation–Cars.com has ranked the Subaru Outback among the best vehicles for driving on sand, after all–you should keep in mind that most beach towns forbid driving on the sand during the busy summer season.

Many towns do allow vehicles on the sand from September to March, though; some require a permit, while others don’t. Either way, you should always take proper precautions before driving your vehicle onto the beach.

Prepping to Drive on Sand

If you spend much time off-roading around New Jersey, then prepping your Subaru for different terrain or weather is probably a familiar process. With sand, you primary concern is making sure that you don’t sink in. Packed, damp sand is fairly easy to navigate, but loose sand is another story.

To start, deflate your tires to 15 psi or so. This allows your tires to squish out sideways, creating a bigger footprint to distribute your vehicle’s weight so that your wheels don’t just dig ruts into the sand. Of course, you need to re-inflate them before leaving the sand; even a short trip on pavement with such low pressure could destroy your tires or pull them off the rim.

While driving on sand, try to take turns very gradually. Sharp turns will dig you into the sand. Speaking of digging, keep a shovel handy to refill ruts if you need to reverse to attempt a curve more gradually after digging yourself down.

Whatever type of driving you plan to do, safety and planning are always key. To explore some of the most capable vehicles around here at Subaru of Morristown, be sure to contact us by calling (866) 910-3466 today!

Subaru Dealer Helps New Jersey Drivers Find Inspiration for Trunk-or-Treating

Fall is finally here, which means it’s time to start getting ready for Halloween! While you’re likely already running around trying to find costumes for the kids, candy, and decorations for the front lawn, we know that your plans for the holiday might also involve preparing for a day spent trunk-or-treating.

Trunk or treating

At our New Jersey Subaru dealership, we know firsthand that your Subaru is perfect for your needs on the road day-to-day. When it comes to a festive occasion like trunk-or-treating, though, a bit of special decorating is in order!

From Sporty to Spooky

Choosing your favorite Subaru model at our New Jersey dealership is all about finding out what fits your style, and the same is true when picking a theme for your car and your parking spot during trunk-or-treating. Embracing your favorite part of Halloween makes decorating that much more fun!

For a lot of folks, the spooky side of Halloween is one of the best parts of autumn. If that sounds like you, then turning your vehicle into a monster factory is a breeze. A few simple additions, like cardboard tombstones or fake cobwebs, can quickly transform your vehicle. If you want to throw things into high gear, one of our favorites is to rig up a spooky old Halloween costume–we know you’ve got them all stashed away somewhere–from the open tailgate with some fishing line so that it floats in the wind.

If you’d rather not go the scary route, then embracing the season is another great idea. With a few hay bales, some decorative pumpkins, and maybe a scarecrow, you can make your vehicle look like a modern day hayride. Better yet, all of those decorations can easily be used to spice up your yard after you pack it up and head home.

Whichever approach you choose, the important thing during Halloween is to have fun and stay safe! Subaru Spreads Wildlife Conservation Efforts From New Jersey to Across the Country

For many drivers, Subaru’s commitment to giving back is already well known. The Subaru Love Promise, after all, has been going strong for 20 years. This program helps to define the brand’s unique approach to supporting the community and fostering positive change.

Our New Jersey Subaru dealership has always been proud of the automaker’s efforts, especially when it comes to protecting and improving the environment. It’s been more than 10 years since Subaru became the country’s first zero-landfill automaker, and since then they’ve gone to great lengths to help the National Parks Conservation Association reach the same goal for our nation’s National Parks.

Of course, National Parks don’t account for all of our nation’s natural habitats. Across the country, other environments and the animals that live there are being threatened. Fortunately, Subaru recently took the initiative to help do something about it!

Giving the Next Generation the Tools They Need

During the month of April, Subaru partnered with the National Wildlife Federation to provide schools across the country with the supplies and information that they need to create Certified Wildlife Habitats. In total, the automaker helped to provide for over 400 of these locations!

The program is designed to provide classes with the four basic materials that native species need to live well, including water, food, shelter, and space for raising their young. Subaru has donated garden supplies and plants which, along with educational materials and videos from the National Wildlife Federation, teachers and students can use to build new habitats to help protect their local wildlife.

Thomas J. Doll, president and COO of Subaru of America, Inc., said, “At Subaru, we believe in making the world a better place by cherishing the wonders of nature that we too often take for granted. We are proud to once again team up with the National Wildlife Federation to educate our local communities on how they can do their part to preserve wildlife through Subaru Loves the Earth.”
