Enjoying Autumn Camping in NJ

Best NJ campgrounds

Summer may have ended, but the fun is far from over! Just how cooler weather means “local summer” down the shore, autumn is the perfect time to pitch a tent, roll out your warmer sleeping bag, and get lost in the woods for a day or two to disconnect.

The latest Subaru vehicles make for perfect camping companions, but where should you go? The Subaru of Morristown team has some great recommendations right here in New Jersey.

North Jersey

We’re often blown away by just how diverse North Jersey is. Just a stone’s throw from the urban metropolis of New York City, we’re just as close to sprawling, untouched natural lands. Camp Taylor Campground in Columbia is a perfect example. With 400 acres touching on the Delaware Water Gap and the Appalachian trail, this wooded, mountainous campground is the perfect retreat for outdoors lovers who are ready to get some dirt on their boots. After all, hiking is the perfect way to warm up when the fall air gets chilly!

Camping in your Subaru

South Jersey

Looking to get a little bit farther away from home? Pile in your Subaru and head for Belhaven Resort & Campground in Green Bank. With hundreds of wooded campsites in the Pine Barrens and even spots for RV or trailer campers, this spot is loaded with amenities so that you can have your cake and eat it, too, so to speak. Glamping might not cut it for purists, but it’s a whole lot cleaner than traditional camping!

Central Jersey

While we can’t prove that the Jersey Devil exists–maybe you’ll see him if you decide to camp in the Pine Barrens–we can confirm that Central Jersey is no myth. Don’t believe us? Drop by Mountain View Campground in Milford and explore it for yourself! Open through October, Mountain View offers rustic sites for pitching your tent and soaking in the great outdoors.

No matter how far away or close to home you camp, everyone can benefit from some time spent outdoors this season! To learn more about all of the places your Subaru can take you, be sure to contact the Subaru of Morristown team by calling (866) 910-3466 today.

Subaru Dealer in NJ Helps Drivers Lock Down Safety

When you start the search for a new vehicle, the team at our NJ Subaru dealership knows that safety tops your list of necessities. After all, you can’t truly feel at ease on the road unless you know your vehicle has your and your passengers’ safety built in. This is especially true when you’re traveling with children.

Child car set

If you’re shopping for a Subaru, you already know that Subaru takes safety seriously; that’s why the latest Subaru models in our NJ showroom make installing a child seat easy. Even so, it’s still important to double check that you’re using the right car seat for your child and that it’s always installed properly.

Use a Rear-Facing Seat

For infants and small children, a rear-facing child seat is absolutely necessary for their safety. Similarly, the back seat is the safest place for children whether they’re in a car seat, booster seat, or big enough to just be buckled in.

Always check your child seat’s manual to ensure that it is the proper size and type for your child. Which seat you should use will change as your child gets older and heavier, so be prepared for these changes; some seats are designed to change with your child’s needs.

Consult the Expiration Date

You may not know it, but car seats carry an expiration date based on when they’re made and what they’re made of. This is to ensure that older seats don’t stay in use beyond the timeframe they’re guaranteed to perform appropriately. Consult your seat to double check that it’s inside of the acceptable range. If it’s past its date but you purchased it recently, you should be able to exchange it for a new one.

Check Your Buckles

The straps and buckles that hold your car seat in place should all me in good shape and, of course, must be installed correctly. Be sure that they’re snug and in the correct place. Even if you’re confident in your installation, it never hurts to have the seat double-checked; many firehouses and EMT stations offer a free safety seat check for your peace of mind.

Here at our NJ Subaru dealership, we’re especially proud of the automaker’s history here in the United States. That’s because since the 1960s, Subaru has been headquartered at Cherry Hill right here in New Jersey!

Of course, anyone who’s visited us at our NJ showroom knows how much we value our Subaru employees; they’re our most valuable asset! That quality isn’t restricted to just our store, though, as evidenced by the recent anniversary celebration at Subaru of America headquarters in Cherry Hill.

Subaru 50th Anniversary celebration in NJ

Subaru of America recently recently held a celebration with over 500 employees hosted by President and Chief Operating Officer Thomas J. Doll to celebrate 50 years of Subaru in the United States!.

A Party 50 Years in the Making

All decked out in matching gold 50th anniversary T-shirts, over 500 Subaru employees gathered on February 15th to countdown to the official anniversary on a special clock that had been ticking down for more than a year! When it finally reached zero, everyone cheered before a 300-lbs brass plaque was unveiled to commemorate the event. The plaque was made by local artist Chad Fisher.

Doll was certainly excited to celebrate the half-century milestone with so many excited employees. Referring to the celebration, he said, “This company has seen so much in its 50 years, and now we can mark this anniversary on the back of 10 years of sales increases.

“Our employees are our bedrock and that’s why we are celebrating them with the amazing plaque by Chad Fisher, which represents our employees, retailers and customers. Know When It’s Time to Service Your Brakes

Subaru Brake Service

Hearing some funky noises when you stop at a red light? We at Subaru of Morristown in NJ are here to help you figure out what’s going on with your brakes. What exactly the problem is will depend on the specific noise you are hearing.

Squealing vs. Grinding

If your brakes are squealing, you’re likely driving on some worn down brake pads. The brake pad wear indicator rubs against the rotor and causes the squealing sound (sounds like a high-pitched whistle).

If your brakes are grinding, you should check them immediately. This indicates that your brake pads are worn down and you’re damaging your rotors. You don’t want to jeopardize your safety by driving this way for much longer!

If you already know that you’re not the DIY kind of gal or guy when it comes to cars, see why you should service with our NJ Subaru dealership. With professionally trained technicians looking at your car, we’ll determine what’s wrong and have your car ready to go in a jiffy. To the amateur mechanics out there: check out the list below! However, if you don’t know exactly what each step entails, it would be wise to bring your car in for service.

The Repair

  • BUY THE SERVICE MANUAL. This contains essential information and is not a suggestion.
  • Jack up the car and remove the wheel and tire
  • Remove the caliper
  • Check the rotors
  • Check the wheel bearings
  • Replace Wheel Bearings (if necessary)
  • Replace the brake pads
  • Put the assembly back together
  • Bleed the brake fluid
  • Replace the tire and wheel assembly, put the hubcap back on, and you’re all set!

It’s important to note that checking means more than looking. You must check the wheel bearings for pitting and/or scoring and the rotors for a specified minimum thickness measurement (using a micrometer).

The more specifics details involved in each step are essential to your safety. If you don’t know what all of the above steps require, schedule service at Subaru of Morristown or contact our service department at (866) 868-4009. We’ll have you on the road in no-time…your safety and satisfaction guaranteed.

Subaru Announces Year-Long Anniversary Celebration

Subaru has built up a strong reputation for quality and performance over the years, and the team at our NJ Subaru dealership is blown away that the automaker is just a year away from its 50th anniversary! After all, making exceptional vehicles for half of a century is certainly no small feat.

Classic Subaru vehicles

While the actual anniversary doesn’t roll around until February of 2018, there’s no reason not to start celebrating now. Subaru has already hinted at plans for a year-long celebration leading up to February 15th, 2018!

Kicking the Party Off Early

Many Subaru drivers are already familiar with the Subaru Love Promise, the automaker’s campaign to support a wide array of different charities, causes, and organizations across the nation. In keeping with that goal, the company has unveiled that the year’s festivities will culminate in a special donation of “50 cars for 50 years.” The donation will be in support of a national charity, to be announced when the anniversary is closer.

2017 Subaru models available in NJ

Special celebrations are also expected to occur throughout the year, with different events for dealerships, drivers, and shoppers to participate in. As the anniversary draws nearer, Subaru fans can even look forward to seeing a line of special anniversary edition models out on the road. These unique models are expected to debut in early 2018.

In addition to the upcoming 50th anniversary, Subaru is also celebrating record sales here in the United States. Over the past decade, the automaker’s figures have climbed each year to surpass the last. From 2007 to 2017, the brand’s annual sales have more than tripled!

Memories Come Rushing Back for NJ Subaru Drivers

2016 Subaru models in NJ

Subaru is an automaker that’s founded in the spirit of adventure, and that includes all of your favorite journeys. While symmetrical all-wheel drive makes these vehicles perfect for tearing through the mud on your way to your favorite campgrounds, family drivers know that these comfortable cabins are just as adept when it comes to enjoying life’s quiet moments.

In the brand’s latest ad – the first to include a 2016 model – highlights just how much these vehicles can carry. Drivers at our Subaru dealer in NJ who have taken their favorite model on a road trip already know that there’s plenty of space for gear, but this time it isn’t cargo that we’re talking about.

Instead, director Noam Murro showcases a father’s look back as he prepares to pass his old Forester down to his now-driving aged daughter. While Gregory Alan Isakov’s “Time Will Tell” plays, the dad cleans out the items that have been left behind in the car. As he remembers each moment of his daughter growing up with the car, the scenes play out behind him.

While this certainly showcases the way that a dependable vehicle can play a key role in a family’s time together, it also showcases the Forester’s longstanding reliability and popularity; as the commercial closes, we get a glimpse of the father’s new 2016 Forester ready and waiting in the driveway.

Longevity Shines with the Subaru Lineup

Lasting value and dependability are certainly among the traits that draw shoppers to our NJ Subaru dealership, as motorists can see from the advertisement. The Forester is particularly remarkable, thanks to its notoriety as the longest lasting compact crossover in America.

For 2016, the Forester continues to deliver on all of the features that have set it apart from the crowd. With 32 mpg on the highway, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and symmetrical all-wheel drive, this crossover is the perfect choice whether you’re commuting to the office or exploring a brand new trail.

To learn more about our incoming 2016 Subaru models, including the new Forester, be sure to contact us online or to call the Subaru of Morristown team at (866) 910-3466 today!

NJ Drivers Head Down the Shore to Soak Up the Sun

Jersey Shore boardwalk

Here at Subaru of Morristown, we can’t say enough about how much we love our gorgeous home state. As many of our customers are quick to point out, we’re just about “an hour from anywhere.” Whether you love the woods, the mountains, or the cities, you can find your favorite landscape in the afternoon and still be home for dinner.

Of course, one of our most well known regions is the shore. Even if the rest of the country can’t seem to grasp why we say we’re heading “down the shore” instead of “to the beach,” they can’t help but agree that we have some of the nation’s most beautiful beach towns.

Whether you’re using your Subaru’s space to load up on friends, your bike, or your surfboard, there’s something special about a day – or better yet, a week – spent down the shore. Take a look at some of our favorite spots!

Asbury Park

One of New Jersey’s rapidly developing areas, Asbury Park has a lot to offer. With great bars and venues for live music, it’s easy to see why the Boss made this shore town his old stomping grounds.

Whether you spend your day with your toes in the sand or enjoy the night eating out on Cookman Avenue, you’re bound to have a great time.

Subaru at the beach

Cape May

The state’s southernmost beach, Cape May is one of New Jersey’s most popular destinations for tourists. When you come see the town for yourself, though, it’s easy to see that all those out-of-towners are onto something.

With plenty of open space, a historic lighthouse, and street after street of historic Victorian architecture, there’s plenty to see and do in Cape May even before you get to the beach itself. You might want to be ready to fold down the back seat of your Subaru, though, as Cape May is also a top spot for shopping and antiquing.

Atlantic City

Possibly our top pick for an easy weekend away, Atlantic City is perfect for a break from the daily grind. Best known for its flashy casinos, Atlantic City has plenty to offer for non-gamblers, too. A scenic boardwalk, great shopping, and thrilling nightlife all help to make this spot an attractive destination for your next outing.

With hundreds of miles of coastline, New Jersey has such a diverse collection of beach towns that just about anyone can find their ideal spot to kick back and relax! If you’re eager to find the perfect vehicle before choosing your perfect beach, be sure to contact Subaru of Morristown online or to give us a call at (866) 910-3466 today.

Subaru Drivers in NJ Go Further with Simple Maintenance

NJ Subaru dealer service centerIf you’re like most drivers, chances are that you’re not putting a ton of thought into your tires. Unfortunately, neglecting these crucial components can lead to bigger trouble down the road, including unexpected flats or the need to change your tires completely.

At our NJ Subaru dealership, we know that our shoppers aren’t particularly eager to service their vehicles. While we make every effort to ensure your visit is quick and convenient, we recognize that the best option is to avoid unnecessary service. The best thing you can do to stave off costly repairs, of course, is to keep up with your maintenance!

For your tires, maintenance is key. Be sure to check the pressure often and ensure that your tires are inflated to the appropriate level. As for the tread of your tires, there’s an easy way to help prolong their lifespan: rotation!

Quick Rotation Keeps Drivers On the Road Longer

Subaru service center in New JerseyThe reason that tire rotation is so important is that each of your tires had a tendency to wear down differently. Even when you have the proper tires for your Subaru from our NJ service center, the miles are bound to add up and take their toll on your tread.

Your front and tires wear differently, as do your left and right tires; driving on the right side of the road means that we naturally approach left and right turns at different speeds. To help balance things out and prolong the life of your tires, you should rotate your tires each time you change your oil.

After you raise your vehicle and have it safely resting on jack stands, remove your wheels and move them to their new locations. For most vehicles, best practice is to bring your rear wheels straight forward (rear left to front left and rear right to front right) while crossing your front tires on the way back (front left to rear right and front right to rear left).

If you have directional tires, which will be marked with an arrow or triangle to indicate direction, then things are a bit simpler for you. Simply switch the front and rear tires on each respective side, and you’re set!

This invaluable service goes a long way toward helping you to stay on the same set of tires before you’re due for a change. Of course, not everyone wants to service their own vehicle; if you’d prefer to have the experts handle things, simple contact Subaru of Morristown for a service appointment or call our team at (866) 910-3466 to make an appointment. We’ll be happy to help!
