Spend a Day Exploring New Jersey Parks

2015 Subaru Crosstrek

New Jersey is called the Garden State for a reason. On your daily commute on highways and through the suburbs, it may be difficult to remember why. Remind yourself this weekend: head out to one of these amazing New Jersey parks and see what your Subaru is really made of.

Into the Woods

Over the river and through the woods…to Hacklebarney State Park we go! Enjoy a breathtaking drive there (about half an hour from our Subaru dealer in Morristown) on winding, shaded roads. Take some of the trails through the wilderness in this beautiful park to catch a glimpse of several species of endangered plant life, waterfalls, and some of the best views to be had of New Jersey’s Black River. If you’re there in the fall, be sure to stop at one of the area orchards for apple picking…and donuts. Hey, you just went on a hike… you earned it!

Though the Jersey shore is known more for its boardwalks than its flora and fauna, it’s actually home to several parks hosting thousands of acres of protected wildlife. A particular highlight is the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in south Jersey, which is home to hundreds of species of birds endemic to the area. All manners of nature, terrains, and trails can be found on the 47,000 acres of protected coastal land at this park. Don’t forget to take your Subaru on the Wildlife Drive to observe the changing landscape all year round.

Field Trips

Hikes aren’t for everyone. There are plenty of options, some of which are wheelchair accessible, to have some more leisurely fun and learn about New Jersey’s rich history. For example, Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in the Pine Barrens is home to Whitesbog Village, formerly the largest cranberry farm and agricultural community in New Jersey and currently a picturesque and preserved historic site. Get an idea of the life of cranberry and blueberry farmers of yore- the very same people who earned New Jersey’s title as the Garden State.

There’s something for everyone in New Jersey. If you’re trying to figure out how to spend your next free day, check out this list of more parks and their highlights, get in your Subaru, and head over. More importantly, have fun!

Local Drivers Embrace the American Tradition and Enjoy Captivating Road Trips

When you think of road trips, chances are that the image that leaps to mind is of a highway stretching through the plains and deserts of the American frontier. You don’t need to cross the country to have a memorable time behind the wheel with your loved ones, though.

Here in the Garden State, we’ve got plenty to see and do at any time of year! Whether you’ve got an afternoon or a long weekend to fill, you can have a blast checking out some of our favorite local destinations.

Enjoy The Boardwalk

NJ boardwalkFrom Point Pleasant to Asbury Park to Atlantic City to Cape May to Wildwood, the boardwalk is an iconic part of New Jersey’s history! With games, food, and rides that the whole family can enjoy, the boardwalk is always a great time.

Some spots may be closed up for the winter, but you can still find plenty to do when you’re walking the boards. You won’t be doing any swimming this time of year, but you can still see some magnificent views along the shore!

Take In Some History

New Jersey’s rich history also provides some great destinations to have fun while learning a bit of the state’s background. Liberty State Park sports a great outdoor area, all within a stone’s throw of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Battleship New Jersey is another exciting option. With a wide variety of tours, events, and overnight camping experiences throughout the year, the whole crew is sure to love this aquatic adventure.

Get Warm While You Learn
