How does subaru eyesight work

Subaru EyeSight technology

As a leader in technology, Subaru is always looking for ways to improve the safety of all drivers while out on the road, thus the EyeSight safety system was created. Subaru EyeSight is a suite of driver assisted technologies that are designed to help drivers navigate the streets of New Jersey in a more integrative way. Available on a variety of Subaru models and standard on many 2019 Subaru vehicles, including the Crosstrek, Forester, Legacy, Outback, and WRX, Subaru EyeSight provides an added layer of protection behind the wheel.

Subaru EyeSight Features

Many cars make use of active safety systems but few of them utilize anything quite like EyeSight. Anchored in a set of dual color cameras placed on either side of the rearview mirror, the system scans the road ahead for unanticipated dangers much like a second pair of eyes. These cameras can detect objects in front of you, monitor traffic, and react to conditions even before you do but it’s important to remember that EyeSight is designed to assist drivers, not replace them.

The Subaru EyeSight suite of safety features has four main technologies to warn drivers of potential danger; Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning, Pre-collision Braking, and Pre-collision Throttle Management. Adaptive Cruise Control helps drivers maintain a safe speed and distance from the vehicle ahead of them by braking or accelerating as needed, while the Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning system will alert the driver with visual and audio cues if the car wanders outside its intended lane. The Pre-Collision Braking and Pre-Collision Throttle Management systems will also apply the brakes or decrease the throttle to help reduce the severity of or help avoid a collision if the driver hasn’t yet applied the brakes.
