Delaware Valley Provides a Perfect Route for NJ Subaru Drivers

The team at our NJ Subaru dealership knows how much our shoppers tend to love the outdoors. After all, the capability that Subaru is known for is a huge selling point for drivers looking to embrace their adventurous spirit.

Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive is certainly perfect when you want to leave the pavement behind, but you don’t always need to go off-road to get up close and personal with Mother Nature. New Jersey is home to a wealth of history and scenic views, and you can soak it all in along the Delaware Valley scenic drive.

Subaru off-roading

Covering 30 miles along Route 29, this scenic drive stretches from Frenchtown to Trenton and provides the perfect opportunity to hop into your favorite 2017 Subaru model and enjoy some of NJ’s finest views! It’s just far enough away for a change of pace on a day trip, and we think you’ll agree that it’s worth the trek.

Taking It all In

This stretch of road can be covered in less than an hour, but a variety of stops and attractions along the way can easily turn the route into a gorgeous day trip! Starting in Trenton, there’s plenty to do. Our state’s capital is home to attractions including the New Jersey State House and New Jersey State Museum, both of which offer great tours for some background on state history before embarking on your drive in earnest.

Once you’re on your way, Washington Crossing State Park is a worthwhile stop. Encompassing 1,400 acres with a wealth of history from Washington’s legendary crossing of the Delaware, the park offers a visitor’s center as well as plenty of hiking and biking trails for fresh air.

Moving along the route, you’ll have the opportunity to visit quaint towns like Lambertville and Stockton, which are known for their antique shops and Victorian-era construction. This stretch is perfect to take a break, do some shopping, and grab a bite to eat!

Toward the conclusion of the route, Frenchtown offers a great taste of Victorian-era architecture, as well. Whether you want to kick back and take it easy or explore the towpath, you’ll have plenty of options.

Staying Close to Home

Of course, there’s plenty to see and do right here in our backyard, too. Whether you’re visiting Jockey Hollow to explore Washington’s Revolutionary War-era headquarters or looking out for crittersildlife in the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, it’s easy to get outdoors and smell the fresh air when you’ve got a free afternoon.

From a leisurely day visiting the towns along the river to a weekend-long camping adventure, the Subaru lineup is perfect for your next expedition! Dog Owners Have Some Fun in the Sun

Summer is finally here, and it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the weather with your furry friend. While your dog may not be able to tell you himself, take it from us: he’s tired of going on walks around the block! Exercise is always great for your pup, but why not try something new this season?

Go for a Hike

Throw your walk into high gear by heading out for a hike with your dog! New Jersey is home to a ton of forests, mountains, parks, and recreation areas, and your Subaru is the perfect vehicle for getting to the trailhead. You’ll appreciate the fresh air and scenery, and your dog is sure to love a whole world of new scents on the trail!

Hiking with your dog

If you’re really feeling adventurous, planning ahead and choosing the right area can turn your hike into a camping trip. Your four-legged friend may love the bed you have for him at home, but his ancient wolf spirit is sure to enjoy a night spent under the stars.

Take a Ride

If you’re ready to get off your feet for a while, consider bringing your pup along for a ride on your favorite outdoor mode of transportation. Depending on the size of your four-legged friend, you can enjoy everything from bikes on the trail to canoes and kayaks out on the water. Just like your human companions, though, make sure you have a life vest for your dog just in case.

Grab a Snack

Take a break and grab a bite to eat! Many restaurants with outdoor seating, including ice cream shops, have dog-specific menus or treats available for pet owners. If not, bringing your dog’s normal food or a special meal along for the experience is always a nice change of pace!

Wherever you go, be sure to take note of leash laws to help keep you and your pal safe along the way, and check for ticks when you get back home. Taking Control With Advice From Parsippany Area Subaru Service Center

For most American drivers, an automatic transmission is the norm. Even if you’re familiar with driving and shifting in a manual vehicle, you might opt for an automatic just for convenience or because it’s what’s equipped on the vehicle you want.

At our Parsippany area Subaru service center, we drive–and repair–all types of transmissions for our customers. One question many drivers have is why their vehicle’s shift selector has different gears available if the transmission is automatic. Fortunately, our experts are here to offer some insight!

When to Drop it Low

Depending on the specific vehicle you drive, you might notice an “L” or “1” and “2” gears on your shifter. These denote low gear or 1st and 2nd gear, respectively, and allow you to manually put the car into a lower gear. But why would you want to?

The most common situation that calls for low gear is a long, steep hill. Note that this probably doesn’t include your driveway or any other daily driving you do, but rather refers to scenic mountain roads and the like. In this situation, descending in low gear can keep you from picking up too much speed without the adverse effect of stressing your brakes. This can help to prevent a premature need to visit our Parsippany area facility for routine maintenance on your brakes!

You may also want to shift into low gear when climbing a similarly steep incline, or when towing a heavy load. In both cases, your car needs to work harder for normal results–gravity is adding resistance in one case, and extra weight is adding resistance in the other. Using a lower gear can help your vehicle adapt to the change, but be sure to consult the towing information in your vehicle’s manual before choosing a gear for these situations.

If you suspect that your transmission or brakes may already be overworked, be sure to let our team take a look to diagnose the root of the problem. To schedule a service visit with our experts, be sure to contact Subaru of Morristown online or to call us directly at (866) 910-3466 today!
